What's up people!!! Back from a little hiatus, I hope school is going well for everyone. Well, I"m officially a California resident! Exciting, I know...I moved about a week ago and I couldn't be happier! Right now, I"m living in Mission Viejo which is one of the many towns of Orange County. I probably don't have to tell you that it's absolutely beautiful out here! It's funny becasue all of December when I was living in Maryland I was hoping for snow, then as soon as I moved, BOOM, they were hit with 6 inches with some more to come! I am a little jealous because I love snow but at the same time, I'm glad to be able to wear shorts again whenever I want!Recently, my friend Max Ritz and I are coaching the lacrosse team at JSerra Catholic High School which is right around the corner from my apartment. The team is still a work in progress but we've definitely got some players! Watch out for us in the Trinity league for the next few years!Any football fans out there? Who do you have winning the Superbowl??? Being a Ravens fan, I'm praying that Green Bay pulls it out, mainly because I don't want to see the Steelers win another one. Still pretty bitter about our loss in the AFC Semi-finals but that's another story.Before I get out of here, I wanted to take a second to say thank you to all of the kids that came to our last camp at the Reisterstown Sportsplex in Baltimore in January. We had a ton of talented kids and I could tell everyone gave 100% which is all we ask for. I'd also like to give a special thanks to all of the Friends School kids that came to camp! For those who don't know, Kyle, my younger brother Marrio and I all graduated from Friends so it really meant a lot to us for all of those guys to come out and show their support. Can't want for next year!Well, I've still got a lot of work to finish before practice so I should get moving. Until next time!!!MaxxDecember 28. 2010Hey everyone! I'd like to start out by saying Merry Christmas! I can't believe we're only 4 days away, I've still got some shopping to do. What do you want for Christmas? I always have trouble thinking of gifts for my family because I feel like I get them the same thing every year. I always get my Mom some sort of jewelry, my Dad either a Ravens jersey, hat, or other article of clothing (or a power-tool), and my brother a sweatshirt or shoes. I've definitely got to switch it up this year!I'm also officially done college! I took my last exam today at 6 pm so now I can finally relax! I definitely studied extra hard for these exams since they were the last ones I'll ever take. Grades should come out in early January so I'll be holding my breath until then! Not only was today the last day of exams, but tomorrow is graduation! it's crazy because I look back on college and all the time I spent in the gym, on the field, and in the library; and in two days it's all over! Weird feeling.Now that I'm finally done school, I can focus on moving out west! I don't think it's hit me yet that I'm going to be living in California coaching and playing the game I love. I feel like I'm the luckiest dude in the world! I've still got a lot to do before I make it out so it's back to work! No days off... have a happy holiday!MaxxDecember 2. 2010Hey everyone! What's good??? Sorry for the gap between blogs, I've been swamped with work lately! I've been in the library trying to finish this semester strong every day for the past two weeks! Sounds like a blast right? I just can't wait to be out of school for good...only a week and a half left until finals!How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Mine was pretty fun. last Wednesday, most of my friends from high school came back to Baltimore so it was great to see them again (it's been about a year since we last saw each other). I also got to spend some quality time with my brother Marrio and help him get ready for the upcoming lacrosse season! He's a sophomore at McDaniel University and just finished up his soccer season (he plays two sports). The soccer season didn't end as well as he had hoped, but on the bright side, he has a chance to be a starting midfielder this year which is pretty exciting! I'm sure he'll play well.On a different note, anyone have any new music? I'm a huge Lil Wayne fan and now that he's out of jail, I can't wait for the hits to start flowing! T.I. and Drake also have a new song out called "Poppin Bottles" that's already become one of my favorite songs. Anything you guys find be sure to let me know! I'm out!MaxxNovember 11. 2010 " I was a cow for Halloween."What's up everyone? I just had one of the best Halloween weekends of my life! One of my best friends invited me to the Penn State vs. Michigan football game last weekend in Happy Valley. Absolutely wild atmosphere! Going to UMBC for 4 years, I kinda missed out on the whole "big college" experience, so it was really cool too see how the other side was living. We ended up dressing up as the Chick-fil-A cow's and it was hilarious, lots of confused looks though. It was also good for me to get out of MD for a weekend and do a bit of traveling. Definitely a weekend to remember! How was Halloween for everyone else? Hopefully everyone was safe and didn't eat too much candy! No one likes cavities. My schoolwork is also starting to pick up a bit. With only 6 weeks left in the semester, most of my teachers are starting to teach the last material of the curriculum before final exams. I've got a Spanish exam, draft of a 10 page paper, and a STAT exam all next week! Needless to say, I'll be spending most of my weekend in the library. What's been new in the sports world? I saw that the Giants won the World Series so I guess that's exciting. I'm not a fan of either team that was in the big game so I didn't really watch. I have, however, been watching the start of the NBA season! The Wizards look like they have new life with John Wall at point guard. He had a pretty good game the other night as well, almost got a triple-double. It'll also be interesting to see how the Miami Heat turn out after acquiring LeBron James and Chris Bosh. They've won a few in a row after losing the season opener, but it's a really long season. I guess we'll see what happens!Well, time to get back to work. I've still got some notes to take before my afternoon class. Later!MaxxOctober 22. 2010 "LXMJacksonville ReCap"What's up everyone?? How's the week going so far? I'm just getting back into the swing of things after being away for the weekend in Palm Beach, Florida! LXM 904 was another success, even though Team Monster Energy came up a bit short. We ended up loosing 10-9 to Team New Balance after a very hard fought game on both ends of the field. I even had an assist which was pretty exciting, right at the end of the half. Besides the game, Florida was amazing as you can imagine. The weather was perfect (mid 80's and sunny), I got to see the guys from the tour again after a long two months between events, and our living situation was comfortable to say the least. We got to stay in the Hammock Beach Resort, which reminded me a lot of California. Our room was overlooking the mini water-park, golf course, and beach! It was a very relaxing atmosphere that came to an end too quickly!So now I'm back in Baltimore still trying to get through school. Anyone have any plans for Halloween?? I'm not quite sure what I'm going to be this year, I'm still deciding between Damon Wayans in Major Payne or possibly the Chick-fil-A cow. Tough decision I know, but I'm sure I'll make the right choice. What's new in sports? I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I do enjoy watching playoff baseball. It's a different level of excitement compared to the regular season, much more competitive. Now that the Yankees have been knocked out by the Rangers, my money is on Philadelphia to win it all. Their pitching is almost too much too handle. I don't see too many people getting hits consistently if they're pitching well. The NHL has also started up for all you hockey fans out there. Hockey is another sport that I don't really get into until the playoff's but from what I've seen so far, Ovechkin and the Caps look like they have another championship caliber team. I'm trying to avoid talking about the Ravens since we lost a heart-breaker in OT last weekend to the Patriots. All I'm gonna say is I feel bad for Buffalo, because we definitely don't like losing. Finally saw the Social Network a few nights ago. My brother was in town for fall break so we saw it together. I've got mixed feelings. it was definitely a good story and really interesting to see how fast Mark Zuckerberg got crazy rich, but the movie itself wasn't all that great. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't see it again. Well, that's all I've got for now. Time to get back to work, I have a few midterms coming up. Wish me luck!!!MaxxOctober 5. 2010 What's up everyone??? I hope the week is going well so far. I've been crazy busy as usual. Summer is officially over so here in MD, it's starting to get cold. The temperature today dropped as low as 55 degrees! I was definitely bundled up when I left the house this morning. I've got a Spanish exam at the end of the week so I've been studying like crazy trying to get ready. The class also has an online aspect so I've got some stuff to finish on their as well. So much work!On a different note, how 'bout them RAVENS last weekend!?! If you didn't already know, The Ravens and the Steelers have always been bitter rivals, which made beating them on their home field that much better. Now, I always give credit where credit is due and the Steelers played a great game...just not good enough! That touchdown pass with 30 seconds left to win the game was sweeeeetttt! Can't wait until next weekend, I think we play the Broncos? Another defensive battle, lets GET IT!Anyone seen any good movies lately? I know there are a few out but I haven't had much time to go see them. I saw The Town about 2 weeks ago and thought it was amazing! very well done. I'm not a huge fan of Ben Affleck, (I guess I never got over the whole J. Lo thing, haha) but he did his thing. I heard Social Network was pretty good as well. I actually have to see that movie for one of my classes which I'm excited about...easy A!OH, how could I forget about LXM 904 in Jacksonville! The game is on October 16th which is less than two weeks away! If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, grab them soon. The weather is supposed to be perfect and the game is going to be even better! I'm excited not only because it's my second game, but my boy Brendan Porter is playing as well in his first game. Brendan went to Rutgers University in NJ, which is a team we here at UMBC play every year. I wasn't his biggest fan at first because he was one of the only people in my college career who I literally couldn't beat, even tough he has a short stick. It was the most frustrating thing! I wish he was on my team for the game, but he isn't, so hopefully I'll be able to change my luck. Well that's about all I've got for now. I'm heading to work out for a little while before I go home and finish up some studying. Until next time!MaxxSeptember 27. 2010 "Papers Already..?!"What a week! I don't know about you guys, but I've been crazy busy. School is definitely harder than I remember. In the seven says of school I've had so far, I've had three papers due and a quiz. I even had a paper due on the first day of class! The work has definitely been hard, but it's been great seeing all my school friends again! The majority of my senior class came back to school this year too. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one still in school. I wasn't home much at all this summer (as you may know), so I've been catching up with my boys and their endeavors over the summer in the meantime!Only two days until the start of the NFL season and three says until MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL between the Ravens and Jets!!!! I couldn't be more excited! I've already got my Joe Flacco jersey washed and ready for a new season. When it come's to football, I can be pretty superstitious. For example, I wear a jersey for every game (either Flacco or Ray Lewis). I also NEVER wash a jersey during the season and I wear the same jersey until we lose. In past years, I've done a lot of jersey changing but I have a feeling this year is going to be different! Our offense looks dangerous and our defense is always strong so we'll see if we can't string a few wins together. Other than school and football, my life's been pretty boring lately. I haven't had much time to have fun because of all the schoolwork I've had so I haven't really gone out much. Any good movies out? I haven't seen Takers yet but I've heard it's worth the price of admission from numerous people. Well, I've still got a lot to do to get organized. In addition to working out, I still have to buy a few supplies, do some laundry, walk my dog, and pick up another text book. Being back in school and not playing lacrosse is definitely a lot weirder than I thought it would be. Today I went in to the lacrosse office to speak to coach Zim while two incoming freshmen were in the office as well. Lucky for them I was in a good mood because they were looking at me like some kind of criminal! Definitely an unexpected encounter but I guess I'll have to get used to it. I actually like most of my classes, except Spanish! I haven't taken it in a while so sitting in class is crazy confusing! I am taking a class about Criminology and the law which is really interesting. I"m sure I'll learn a bunch of useful information.Even though I'm back in school I can't stop thinking about the success of LXM 610! I had an amazing time and I know everyone was thrilled with the outcome. Getting to play with guys like Kyle, Steven Brooks and Brett Hughes who I grew up watching was a great experience. I'm just happy they're on my team because I would hate to have to play against them! The day started with a free clinic for all the kids in the area that was run by some of the LXM players. After that, Wale came and shut it down! Dude did a great job, and his performance ended just in time for our game to start. In the end team Monster Energy won the game in the final seconds 10-9 thanks to a few clutch goals by my man Jimmy Borell. Now that I have a game under my belt, I can't wait to play again in Jacksonville on October 16th, which is where our next event is. Quickly, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who came out to the event in Philly to show their support. We all really appreciate it! Lastly, who's excited for football?!?! I love college football but I'm a RAVENS fan at heart. We're lookin pretty good so everyone better watch out! I'm lovin the combination of Joe Flacco, Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, and Ray Rice. They're gonna be really hard to stop as a unit if they get in a rhythm. Hopefully now that i'm not playing lacrosse, I can make it to a few games! Well, I've got to get back to work. The summer's finally winding down and I'm back in Baltimore after an amazing summer! Last weekend I played in the Ocean City tournament with team Pinnacle Design, a bunch of guys I went to college with. Although we only went 2-2 and missed the playoffs, it was great to see all of them again. Once the tournament was over, my brother Marrio and I drove back to Baltimore and I've been here ever since. School starts back up for me in about two weeks and I'm excited to get back at it. If any of you forgot, this is my last semester in college! I've got three more classes to pass before I make the big move to California to work in lacrosse over there for a few years. I had a lot of fun in school and certaily have a bunch of fond memories, but after this summer, I think i'm ready to move on to the next phase of my life. Working in the "real world" won't be easy, but I'm ready for the challenge!On another note, LXM 610 is right around the corner!!! The event kicks of next Saturday, so naturally I've been preparing for a while now. I got a new shaft cover, a new head, and a lot more! I just can't wait to get out on the field. If any of you are thinking about attending, I highly recommend you do. The rosters are absolutely STACKED so the game should be quite entertaining to say the least.I've got some more work to finish up before the day is over so i'll see you guys next week. Take care!MaxxAugust 11th Blog "Stayin' on my Hustle"What's up everyone? Hope the week is going well so far. I've been crazy busy, as usual. Last weekend at the War at the Shore, Team Universal Lacrosse lost in the semi finals to Roots Steakhouse. They had a bunch of Virginia players so they basically ran our older players into the ground. Despite the loss, I had a great time catching up with a few friends I saw down there. I even played well, so that's a plus!Once the tournament was over, I flew to Holland, Michigan for my final lax camp of the summer! Run 'N Gun Lacrosse, which is another company I work with co-owned by Kyle and Joe Walters, has a camp there every year that's usually lots of fun. Unfortunately, we didn't have as many kids as in the past, but I still had a great time!Coming up this week I have another lacrosse tournament in Lake Placid. Kyle, Evan, Joe Walters, and myself are playing on a team called Graph Tex who apparently are really good. I'm excited to play with some skilled players in to get ready for LXM 610!!! The game is less than a month away and I couldn't be more excited! After that, I finally get to spend some time at home. Traveling has been amazing but I do miss my family. Well, time to get some sleep. BIG day tomorrow. Take care!MaxxJuly 29th Blog "Congrats Team Relentless!"What's up people? I hope the week is going well so far. Today I finally had a day off, and it was amazing! After a great tour with Team Relentless as well as successful camps in Syracuse and Long Island, I (along with the rest of the NELC crew) flew to UVA for the last camp of the summer. It's a bittersweet feeling because I've absolutely loved being around these guys all summer and will certainly miss them, but on the other hand, I'm tired! I've only been home for a total of 4 days this summer and I'm looking forward to seeing my family again. The grind isn't done yet though.Last week, Team Relentless finished up our east coast tour 12-1!!! That's right, that's not a typo, a team from California played in two tournaments back east and only lost one game. In fact, the only game we lost was to ward Melville, one of the best HIGH SCHOOL teams in New York. I'm so pleased with kids for playing how they did. They didn't back down from anyone, and should be extremely proud of themselves. I can't even tell you how many shocked looks I got when someone would ask me "Where are you guys from?" only to hear "Southern California" in response. HA! Never gets old. This weekend, Kyle and I are driving up to New Jersey to meet our good friends Joe Walters and Evan Kay to play in the War at the Shore tournament. I'm really excited to get back on the field again, this will be the first REAL game I've played in all summer. The tournament will be tons of fun, but I gotta bring my "A" game. Every game from now in is a crucial tune up for LXM 610 in Philly!!! I certainly don't want to disappoint!Alright, time to go to bed. Gotta wake up at 7 tomorrow for camp. Sleep well everyone!MaxxJuly 24th Blog "From the Road"July 22nd BlogHey everyone, whats up? Ive been doing tons of traveling the past few days. First, I flewfrom California back to the east coast, for the second time this summer, to help coach TeamRelentless in their first tournament on the east coast at Hofstra University. We all got to see thevarsity locker-room, which was the football locker room first, and Coach Tierney (Head Coach)talked to the kids for a while about what it takes to play Division 1 lacrosse. A lot of our boyshave the talent!From Long Island, we were supposed to fly to Columbus, Ohio for the NELC camp at OhioState, but my flight was cancelled, so I didnt make it . Instead, I spent about 2 days in theairport system. After spending the night in Long Island, flying to Ohio the following morning, andthen waiting in the airport in OHIO for four more hours (to wait for the rest of the NELC crew toget there), I finally made it back to Baltimore. Talk about an awfulll experience! It wasnt easy,but I finally made it home.Now in Baltimore, Kyle and I worked the 5th NELC camp of the summer at Johns Hopkins. I wasjust excided to get back on the field again. All the time in the airport game me a serious need torip some duck as soon as camp started! And ohhh, ducks were ripped.Coming up next week, Im working NELC camps in Syracuse (at the dome!), UVA, and backat Hofstra. This is the final push of the summer before playing in some tournaments, all to getready for LXM 610 on in Philly on August 28th! SO pumped, just gotta keep workin. Wish meluck!MaxxWhat's up everyone? I hope you all had a great 4th of July. Mine was the first away from home interestingly enough. Doesn't mean I didn't have lots of fun! I spent the day on Hermosa Beach celebrating America's birthday with some new friends. I got a little more sun than I would have liked but I guess that's one of the parts of living on the West Coast. Things could definitely be worse, that's for sure. After a few weeks of hard work in Orange County and San Francisco, it was nice to have a few days off from traveling with Kyle to rest up and get some things together. Although I had a few days off, the work never stops! I had a chance to work ahead on some Playmaker operations, as well as get involved with some new teams developing. Despite all the work I've been doing, the NBA free agent discussions have still managed to capture most of my attention. I just wish LeBron would make a decision already! The entire WORLD is waiting to hear where he'll play next season. My guess is New York but anything could happen. I've also had time to catch a few World Cup games. Who do you guys think will win it all?? After that incredible goal by the Netherlands, I'd have to say that they're my favorite right now. I'm definitely excited to see who wins the Spain vs. Germany game though. No matter what happens, the World Cup final should be one for the ages!So this week i'm back on the lacrosse trail, mainly with Team Relentless. We're playing in the Calax Classic We've this weekend in Orange County to bounce back from the two tournaments in Denver. Hopefully we can pull out a few wins and take home the trophy. No matter what happens, I know I'll still be proud of all the hard work the little guys have put in this summer. Kyle Harrison
Kyle Harrison is a professional lacrosse player on the LXM PRO Tour. He was on the US National Team, and the first pick in the 2005 Major League Lacrosse draft by New Jersey after an impressive collegiate career at Johns Hopkins University, where he was a three-time All-American - twice earning first-team accolades. Kyle earned the McLaughlin Award as the nation's top collegiate midfielder in 2004 and 2005 and received the Tewaarton Trophy, given to the National Player of the Year after leading the Blue Jays to the 2005 NCAA championship. Kyle also was named the USILA Player of the Year (Enners Award) following his senior campaign. He left Hopkins as the program's all-time leader in faceoff percentage. A four-year starter at Hopkins, Kyle departed having accumulated 81 goals, 45 assists and 304 ground balls in 61 career games. While he was at Johns Hopkins Kyle led the Blue Jays to a remarkable 55-6 record and their first national title in 18 years. Johns Hopkins did not lose a home game during his four years at the school. Kyle scored the game's first goal 15 times during his career, and the Blue Jays posted a 15-0 record in those contests.
